Friday, December 6, was a great night for both varsity basketball teams with their wins at home against Central Davidson. The women emerged victorious with a dominating performance of 68-23, while the men played a much closer game with their final score of 48-41.
The women’s team had an amazing performance and earned their 3rd win of the season out of the 5 they have played. #24 Avarie Martin was the leading scorer for this game with 15 points, followed by Bailey Aderhold’s 12. #10 Vivian Vaughters had an impressive rebound game with 5 total rebounds, including 4 on offense and 1 on defense. Davie managed 25 total rebounds during the game compared to Central Davidson’s 15. One more impressive stat was the 17 steals throughout the game to toughen their defense and secure a win.
Though the men had a hard-fought game, they still came back victorious with a 7-point win against Central Davidson. #12 Cameron Owens was the leading scorer with 12 points. #30 Jackson Powers put up some amazing stats against the boards with his 10 rebounds, 4 offensive, and 6 defensive. Lastly, #23 Bryson Mickey led in assists with 5 assists out of the 12 total of the game.
Both teams enter CPC play tonight in their home game against Reagan.
