It was a historic night in Davie athletics as the men’s lacrosse team emerged victorious 1-0 against the visiting West Forsyth Titans, who got hopelessly stuck in the Farmington traffic circles.
“We saw them pass by the Shell three separate times,” Coach Hewitt said of the incident. “At one point, their goalie actually waved for help, but the centrifugal force was too strong.”
The Titans’ bus made its way into the traffic circle at 4:58 p.m. and started circling as if lost in space. With no one to face off against who could get out of the gravitational pull of Farmington’s most dreaded landmark, the War Eagles were given the victory by default. The team decided to celebrate their surprise victory with a light practice scrimmage and team photo in front of the circle, which they dubbed “our real home-field advantage.”
“Well, we’ve all been there,” Cas Moore, senior midfielder, said. “You miss one exit, and then you’re like, what have I gotten myself into?”
The administration has decided to place signs in the roundabout indicating things like “Exit Here for Davie,” “No Titans Beyond This Point,” and “This Is Not a Carousel.”
The administration of West Forsyth has verified that its bus driver is “emotionally recovering” and has requested that all future games be held in a place devoid of circular roadways. The Davie school district, however, is already giving itself credit for the victory under the category of “strategic excellence.”
