It’s that time of year again meaning porch lights, inflatable Santas, and Christmas trees are on full display. Along with this, the annual Christmas festivities are back with the Christmas in the Town of Bermuda Run event, a tradition started by Bermuda Run residents last year. This year, the celebrations took place with more Christmas spirit than ever.

In keeping with tradition, this year’s ceremony was held in the Bermuda Run town square, and if the smiling faces all throughout the event give any proof, it’s safe to say it was a success. Guests were sure to be entertained by a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, carriage rides, and music provided by the War Eagle Marching Band.

With many businesses present to feed event-goers, guests didn’t have empty stomachs either. The idea of this event, bringing the community together, didn’t appear from thin air; however, this notion can first be traced back to 2020, according to an article written by the Davie County Enterprise Record, which brought to light the origins of this Christmas event. 

Ironically enough, the first thoughts of this event were not during the holiday season but rather in the month of July, bringing a whole new meaning to the phrase Christmas in July! The idea behind the event was to bring joy to the community after a year of heartache, and it’s certainly done its job! The main event, the Christmas tree lighting, symbolizes growth within the community; the small tree, planted last year, will grow as the community grows.

This powerful sentiment is held dear by the residents of Bermuda Run, who look forward to keeping the tradition, as well as the tree, alive!
