It’s fall, y’all!! What’s your favorite treat when the leaves change colors? Here’s a list of the top ten best fall desserts, according to our own DCHS students.
10. Coffee Cake
Who wouldn’t love a nice cup of warm coffee on a brisk day? Lots of people like to pair it with this cinnamon-sugar cake. Some people also enjoy this with warm tea. The sweetness of the cake and the bitterness of coffee make these two a great pair, hence the name coffee cake!
9. Pecan Pie
This dessert is nice and sweet, and makes a great gift around the holidays. It can be expensive to make but the gooey filling and crunchy pecans make up for it. It’s a very popular dessert in the south.
8. Pumpkin Spice Bread
This dessert can also make a great gift. It is nice and moist. Lots of people love pumpkin spice as soon as the weather cools down. Most people love pumpkin spice drinks, so don’t miss out on yummy desserts such as this one.
7. Sweet Potato Pie
This pie is sweet and easy to make. I always think about Thanksgiving when I see this pie. Some people prefer this fresh out of the fridge, and some fresh out of the oven! The crisp edge of the pie pairs well with the softness of the filling.
6. Snickerdoodle Cookies
Another cinnamon treat, these cookies are a favorite of all ages because they are sweet and easy to make. They are especially good warm! These cookies are fun to make and a great way to bond with family or friends.

This cake is delicious in the fall. It is often paired with cream cheese frosting. It is called spice cake because of the mixture of spices including cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and ginger. This cake originated in Europe, but its deliciousness has traveled all over the world.
4. Banana Bread
This bread is a yummy treat that takes no time to prepare. Need a small gift and have extra bananas about to go bad? You’re in luck then. This bread can be made in several different ways. Lots of people add nuts for extra crunch, or even chocolate chips!
3. Cinnamon Rolls
This delicious cinnamon treat is gooey and best served warm. You can get these almost everywhere, even from some fast food chains. The cream cheese frosting on top makes this dessert irresistible to all ages. This dessert is even better made from scratch!
2. Apple Pie
Between candy apples at the fair and apple cider, it’s no secret that apples are a fall staple. Apple pie is an unchanging favorite fall dessert. The warm and juicy apples paired with a nice and flaky pie crust makes for an unforgettable treat year after year.
1. Pumpkin Pie
Coming in at number 1 (with no surprise) is pumpkin pie. Pumpkin pie has been around since 1796, making it the most popular and most enjoyed fall dessert. It can be enjoyed for Thanksgiving, or all season long! Lots of families look forward to enjoying a slice every year.
