We are proud to welcome Natalie Matthews to Davie County High School! Matthews started her role here in the beginning of December, and she teaches both Foundations of Health Science and Health Science I. Mrs. Matthews was a nurse educator for fifteen years and worked in the emergency room for ten. This is when she realized her true passion for teaching through working with new nurses.
When working in her former job as a nurse educator, Matthews stated, “I didn’t get to teach as much as I wanted to.” When she saw a position at Davie was open, she happily accepted because, in her words, “This is what I really love to do.”
Mrs. Matthews got her initial nursing degree at Wilkesboro Community College. While working as a registered nurse, she went on to get her bachelor’s at Winston Salem and master’s at Capella University. She currently resides on a farm in Yadkin County with her two daughters. An interesting fact about Mrs. Matthews is that she loves goats, and even raises her own.
We are proud to welcome Mrs. Matthews to Davie County as a proud War Eagle!
