UPDATE: The Town of Mocksville Oaks Festival has been canceled with no reschedule due to uncooperative weather.
As the leaves start to change colors and the air cools, many are ready for fall. Besides the usual pumpkin picking and corn mazes, fall festivals are popping up everywhere. Davie County’s very own Town of Mocksville is hosting its annual Oaks Festival on Saturday, October 9th from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This event is packed full of a variety of music, food, and fun.
The Oaks festival is the well-deserved break from work, school, or stress you deserve. After about a year and a half of remote school, attending a 5-day week can seem overwhelming, even exhausting. Wouldn’t it be nice to kick back and relax to some amazing tunes in the nice fall aroma?
The music lineup starts with Mel Jones & His Bag O’Bones on stage at 1:30 p.m. The band is known for its catchy blues and old soul rhythm. Following them is Down the Mountain with His & Hers on stage at 3:30 p.m. If you enjoy American/Folkstyle music then you’re in for a real treat. To wrap it up, you can listen to Phatt City on stage from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Phatt City formed in the early ‘70s and is renowned for its best beach, R&B, and dance music; you wouldn’t want to miss it!
The event is stationed in Historic Downtown Mocksville. The so-called “Walking Festival” is outdoors with plenty of fresh air. The food trucks will be stationed in the “quads” according to the Town of Mocksville Community Development Coordinator, Tami Langdon. For the kids, the Kids Corner will be in the Town of Mocksville parking lot with pumpkin decorating, balloon animals, and face painting.
