This Thursday, rising freshmen and sophomores have the opportunity to attend Explore Davie, an annual event where students can learn a bit more about classes, clubs, and other opportunities at the high school. Here’s everything you need to know.
The Timeline
Explore Davie will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 13. Traditionally, this event is intended for all students, with an early session for upperclassmen and a later session for rising freshmen and their families. This year, this timetable has been shortened and invitations have only been extended to rising 9th and 10th graders. This doesn’t mean there won’t be any upperclassmen on campus, though. They will just be more likely to be supervising one of the evening’s various drop-in events.
Drop-In Events
Speaking of those events, there will be a number of stations set up throughout the school for students and parents to learn more about certain classes and the school’s various programs. Coaches and sponsors of various teams and clubs will have tables set up in the cafeteria for anybody to drop in and learn more about that specific group. (Come check out The Weekly Talon’s table.)
In addition to sessions for these groups, there will also be dedicated rooms set aside for various classes. Each department has set aside various rooms where students and parents can speak with teachers and learn more about specific classes.
