Friday, October 7th, 2022 was a beautiful night for football in Davie County. Despite the energy of the War Eagles coming into tonight’s game after an amazing touchdown on the kickoff return by William Purvis, Davie lost to Mount Tabor. Our Davie players worked hard with touchdowns by Markel Summers and Brodie Smith and an impressive defense by Mason Shermer, Justin Hayes, and Connor Hood. The score was 25-34, and the Spartans left the Nest with the win.

This week’s halftime show featured the girls’ homecoming court nominees. The senior class voted to select the members of the queen’s court. The results are as follows: Madi Rogers as fourth runner up, Madelynn Keller as 3rd runner up, Reagan Brooks as second runner up, Sarah West Marklin as first runner up, and the 2022 homecoming queen is Stephanie Bueno.

When asked how it felt to be crowned 2022 Homecoming Queen, Stephanie Bueno says, “I am very thankful to be crowned queen and I am overwhelmed with all the love and support! I want to thank my parents for being by my side through everything and to all the girls on the court; they made it worthwhile!” She congratulates all the girls on the court!

Our Homecoming King was crowned at Friday afternoon’s pep rally. The results were as follows: Brodie Smith and Owen Sulecki tied for third runner up, Charlie Frye was second runner up, Palmer Williams was first runner up, and the 2022 Homecoming King is Jack Williams.

Jack Williams is a member of the drumline in the Davie High Marching Band. “I am glad to know that I have the respect of so many of my peers. I’m proud to have been a part of the Homecoming Court this year with such great people. Thank you to everyone who supported me and congratulations to the rest of the King and Queen’s court!”

Davie High Varsity Football may have suffered a loss, but our school spirit showed greatly throughout Homecoming Week and through the many amazing people of the Homecoming Courts!
