Once again, the SURFBoard of Davie County is putting on the Popsicle 5K. This event is for runners and walkers of any age to come out and have fun. The board organizes this race to raise funds to put money into their grant cycle to allow the youth of Davie County a brighter learning experience. The race is on February 24, 2024, and whether you are a runner or simply a supporter of youth education in Davie County, you should sign up today!
This marks the 12th annual Popsicle 5K, and over the years SURF has provided over $100,000 in grant money to various projects catered toward the youth of Davie County. Last year, the board raised over $10,000 due to sponsorship money and funds from the 5K. A total of $8,812 was donated to projects in the community such as making blankets for the dragonfly house, purchasing a new tenor trombone for the band program, and taking the Soaring Eagles program at Davie High on their own field trip. The board always aims to understand and elevate the real futures of the students in Davie County.
To raise money for these projects, the board gets money through sponsorships and the funds from the 5K. The board needs runners to sign up for the race to support their cause. Sign up now at the Davie County Foundation website or https://runsignup.com/Race/NC/Mocksville/SURFBoardPopsicle5K. The SURFBoard would greatly appreciate your help and support. The race is fun and interactive for all ages. You can run, walk, or sign up for the 0k and enjoy some delicious soups and grilled cheeses. Feel free to come out, support the SURFBoard, and get some cardio in as well!
The 5K is a wonderful event that only leads to the positive development of the youth in Davie County. The SURFBoard aims to create a better learning and living environment for the future leaders and citizens of our All-American County. You can help today by signing up to run or volunteer for the Popsicle 5K.
