It’s the new year and almost a new semester! Along with the upcoming final exams, there is an exciting announcement for the students of Davie High. The 2023-24 Homecoming King candidates have been selected by the senior class! Below is some information about these young men so you can get to know them.
Jalen Alexander
Jalen Alexander has been a part of the Davie High football team and has played for the past two years. Following graduation, he plans to attend DDCC for two years to acquire credits, after which he will go to UNC Charlotte to pursue a degree in exercise science.
Eli Branham:
Eli Branham has been a member of the football team for all four years of high school. He is also a member of FCA, YoungLife, and the National Honor Society, and he often leads the student-led Bible study at Davie. Branham enjoys golfing with his friends and working out. He plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a degree in either civil engineering or biblical studies.
Kade Byington:
Kade Byington began working at Farmington Meat Processing in August of 2023. He enjoys hanging out with friends and also enjoys fishing. He plans on attending DDCC for two years, after which he will transfer to a four-year university
Evan Copeland:
Evan has been involved with the Davie High Football team for all four of his high school years and wrestled his freshman year. He is also a member of both Vocal Ensemble and Musical Theatre, where he played the lead male role of attorney Billy Flynn in last year’s production of Chicago. He enjoys editing YouTube videos, playing video games, and working out. He plans on attending a four-year university after high school to get a bachelor’s degree in the arts. He is still undecided as to whether he will play football in college.
Cole Fender:
Cole Fender is the Business Manager for the Davie High Band Program and plays saxophone in the Wind Ensemble. He has been in the marching band for four years and was a member of the track and field team for two years. He is planning on attending Appalachian State University to get a degree in professional writing.
Vasu Gandhi:
Vasu Gandhi is currently in Skills USA and is competing in Medical Terminology for the 2023-2024 competition. He likes to spend time with his family, play video games, and watch YouTube. He plans to attend a four-year university and then attend a post-graduate program where he will pursue a doctorate in medicine.
Earnhardt Harris:
Earnhardt Harris is a member of both the Student Council and the Athletic Leadership Club. He was inducted into NHS his sophomore year and has been a varsity swimmer for the Davie Swim Team since his freshman year. He is also a student leader for Davie County Young Life. Earnhardt’s many hobbies include playing the acoustic guitar, water skiing, wakeboarding, riding four-wheelers/dirt bikes, building LEGOs, playing basketball, and lifting weights. He plans on attending UNC Chapel Hill to pursue a career in medicine and eventually open his own practice.
Ty Matthews:
Ty Matthews is an active participant in Davie County Young Life, is a member of NHS, and is a co-leader of the Davie Crazies. He claims to have the best LEGO collection in Davie County and enjoys thrifting clothes, listening to music, and watching movies. He plans to attend the University of Tennessee to major in sports marketing.
Ty Miller:
Ty has been involved in baseball since kindergarten, football since 3rd grade, and basketball throughout his middle school years. He was also inducted into the National Honor Society during his sophomore year. He has a huge passion for sports, and he also likes to listen to and play music whenever possible. Ty enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well. He plans to continue to play football in college and study business, planning to someday have one of his own.
Ethan Ratledge:
Ethan Ratledge is a member of the National Honor Society and plays on the Davie High varsity basketball team. After graduation, he plans to attend NC State to major and pursue a degree in Sports Management
Braeden Rodgers:
Braeden Rodgers is one of the leaders of the Davie Crazies, the student section that is present at athletic events, and is very involved in supporting his fellow student-athletes. He was inducted into NHS sophomore year and has been in the varsity sports leadership club since his junior year. He has been with the Davie baseball team his entire high school career and has made varsity for the past 3 years. Rodgers enjoys spending time with his friends and going to the gym. Following high school, he plans to attend Barton College to study exercise science and play baseball.
Markel Summers:
Markel Summers has been a part of the Davie High football team since his freshman year. He spends his time training for football and playing video games. He currently plans to attend a four-year university to continue playing football and major in nursing.
