This past Wednesday, December 6th, Davie High’s swim team took on North Davidson at the Davie Family YMCA in what the team calls the Battle of the Black and Orange. This was a much-anticipated matchup between both teams because North Davidson also trains in the Davie YMCA. With “Davie County Swimming” plastered all over the walls, the War Eagles wanted to defend their home, and they did. With a massive 213-121 win, Davie continues to display their dominance, building on their 2-0 win steak.
There were many stand-out performances at this meet, and the swimmers who took first place in their events include Lilli Seats, Logan White, Sarah Rajacich, Sophia Brady, Aiden Davis, Logan Zuleger, Zach Hirata, Earnhardt Harris, Kayden Richardson, Brady Sheek, Ethan Diemer, Samara McDaniel, Olivia Dufur, Addy Buchanan, and Bryce Harnesberger.
These swimmers gave it their all, winning twenty-three out of twenty-four events. In particular, freshman Zach Hirata swam the 100 backstroke in 55.29 seconds, automatically qualifying him for 4A Midwest Regionals this February.
Senior Captain Logan White won all four of her events and is establishing herself as a dominant force in the conference.
“Swimming has been my sanctuary for over a decade,” White says. “Each practice unfolds new challenges to face and accomplish. As I begin my senior year, the journey ahead is both daunting and exhilarating. I anticipate for the creation of new connections and becoming a part of this uplifting swim family.”
As the Davie Swim Team continues to grow, we cannot wait to see what they will accomplish in the rest of their season.
