On the 18th of March, the 2nd annual Spring Fling Auto Show was held at Davie High School. And despite a downpour the night before, the weather at the event was ideal! Car, motorbike, and tractor enthusiasts proudly showed off their rides for a chance to win one of fifteen stunning trophies, made by our very own CTE students. The auto show is held to support the CTE program, something done exceptionally well this year through the debut of the “CTE Showcase.”
The CTE Showcase allowed many students and members of CTE-based clubs and classes to raise awareness, and money, for the awesome things they’ve done. FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) sold baked goods, the FFA (Future Farmers of America) put out honey for sale, the horticulture classes grew plants to be sold, and the HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) club made an effort to encourage donations through the purchasing of water. However, what really stood out were the accomplishments and creations that were displayed, ranging from SkillsUSA’s robotics to the “cantrailer”, a skee-ball-inspired recycling bin welded and thought up by the agriculture mechanics class at the high school (pictured below).
The organizers of the event really outdid themselves this year with the addition of the CTE Showcase. The event was a great opportunity for the community to admire cars and learn of the great things the CTE has done and continues to do. The Spring Fling Auto Show is growing each year to become more impactful to the community.
