As we make our way through the first “normal” school year since 2019, the clubs at the high school are finally able to make the most in a world without covid-restrictions. With that being said, it’s the perfect time for the introduction of a new service-oriented club. The newest club at the high school, the Red Cross Club, is just that. 

The Davie High Red Cross club, started by a group of students, is an extension of the Red Cross organization. This means that it works with the Red Cross to set up blood drives, fundraisers, and preparedness events. Its mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in times of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The members are very excited to help the community, as well as take advantage of the great opportunities this club can offer. There are many club benefits, from exposure to service-learning opportunities, community service hours, networking opportunities, and the development of college, career, and life skills.

As the president of the club, I would like to say that my goal is not only to help our community but to create a group of peers that can build off of each other with encouragement and constructive criticism; I truly think this is what makes a club worth being in.
