Halloween is just around the corner, and people are getting their costumes ready to go trick-or-treating. Here are some of the top ten male presenting costumes that you might want to wear this Halloween!
10. Jeffery Dahmer
While serial killers have been a topic of controversy as of late, Jeffery Dahmer would be a great costume to wear for Halloween this year. Dahmer is an infamous serial killer that has gotten recent notoriety with the release of the Netflix series ‘Dahmer’. While some may see this costume as glamorizing a killer, that isn’t necessarily the case. Instead, I see it as shining light on a person with a mental illness that stems from multiple environments and social issues that plague our society.
9. Patrick Bateman from “American Psycho”
Patrick Bateman from ‘American Psycho’ is really popular with men these days. Paul Allen would be beyond jealous seeing you equip the Batemen threads this Halloween. Do mind that while wearing this costume, Bateman isn’t someone to praise as an idol. Regardless, make sure to carry your candy in a briefcase, hand out your business cards, and tell everyone that you can book a reservation at Dorsia this Halloween!
8. Harry Potter
This one’s a classic during Halloween; nearly everyone has heard of Harry Potter. The books were so iconic that people were lining up at every bookstore to get the latest copy. You don’t even have to be Harry Potter. In fact, you can create your own character that hails from Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin.
7. The Godfather
“I’m gonna make him an offer he can’t refuse,” said the ruthless crimelord and loving father, Don Corleone. Dressing as Don Corleone will surely make people you don’t even know owe you a favor. The Godfather was an amazing film about organized crime and the struggles between rival families, each striving for power (highly dramatized). The iconic deaths, the music, the food, the story, just *chef’s kiss*.
6. Tar Man from “Return of the Living Dead”
‘Return of the Living Dead’ was such a good movie from the 80s, made by John Russo, who previously worked with George Romero. This ain’t no ordinary zombie-you can hack it into the tiniest bits, and it’ll still try to kill you. These zombies are nearly immortal, only dying to cremation. Tar man, patient zero for the whole zombie outbreak in Kentucky, skull showing, bones corroding, and blood overflowing.
5. Walter White from “Breaking Bad”
Legendary chemist Walter White! You’ll be easily recognized as the person who created the purest meth known to man. The man who wiped out Gus Fring formed a multi-million dollar drug empire, killed hundreds of people that got in his way, and destroyed tons of families with his blue meth. Being diagnosed with cancer drove him down the path of wanting to help sustain his family after he passed, but what became of him in doing so made him a monster.
4. Anton Chigurh from “No Country for Old Men”
A sadistic killer who has an odd compass of morals and beliefs may spark your eye this spooky season. He carries around a captive bolt stunner (mainly used for animals prior to slaughter) to kill his targets silently. He decides the fate of some of his victims through the simple game of “heads or tails.” He’s cunning, creative, and an unstoppable killing machine. He would be a great choice to go as during this Halloween.
3. Travis Bickle from “Taxi Driver”
A lonely Vietnam veteran suffering from PTSD, living in crime-filled, 70s New York. Taxi Driver is a masterpiece of music, cinematography, and an in-depth analysis of a social outcast. Travis does have some memorable lines like “You talking to me?” and “Someday, a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.” Nothing is scarier than being dressed up as a walking contradiction.
2. A Medieval Monk
A strange feeling occurs whenever you see a person wearing a robe. Is he religious? Maybe he’s part of a cult somewhere in the mountains. Nevertheless, this costume is quite easy to find in any store. On top of that, you could add makeup, crosses, or anything to seem like you’re part of some secret organization that’ll have everyone turning their heads.
This infamous, unsolved mystery from the Victorian era is a perfect costume to send shivers down some spines. A man wandering around the slums looking for his next unexpected victim–Jack the Ripper. His actions were gruesome and hard to imagine, which makes for the best Halloween costume. The Victoria-era clothing was ominous when worn in the dark, along with the top hat. It’s an unusual look today in modern times, adding another layer of freight for Halloween in 2022.
