DCHS has gained A LOT of New staff members since the 2020-2021 school year!
Davie County High School has a new addition to the family: Kimberly Barnes. She’s new to the English department, teaching English 2 (including honors and virtual). Barnes comes from a long line of teachers, so she’s following the love of literature that is embedded within her family’s blood.
As any teacher would do, she began schooling to teach her passion to the rest of America’s youth. Luckily for us, she ended up at Davie High and she absolutely loves everything this school has to offer. She ultimately plans to continue her career here until it is time for her to finally retire from education.
When asked about her life during the COVID-19 pandemic, Barnes explained that she had to make a lot of adjustments, but she’s happy to see things are returning to normal. Barnes says that what she wants her students to become and learn from her class is to become critical thinkers and help her students find the career that would make them the happiest while also challenging them on a personal level. Barnes also has kids of her own who attend school: three kids who are in college all at once!
Barnes feels welcomed at Davie County High School and believes that we have great teachers and administrators. I would like to give a warm hug from the Weekly Talon and DCHS to Mrs. Kimberly Barnes for joining the War Eagle Family!
As for a final send-off, she would like to end this piece with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
